Finca Sophenia
Finca Sophenia is recognised as one of the top quality wine producers from Argentina.
Founded by Roberto Luka and his business partner Gustavo Benvenuto, they named the estate after their daughters: Sophia and Eugenia. They chose to locate the estate in the Tupangato Valley at the western extremes of Mendoza, in the virgin foothills of the Andes Mountains, at an altitude of 1,200 meters.
The philosophy of the estate is to show the true expression of their terroir. They have an ideal microclimate for the slow ripening of fruits, with a sharp contrast between daytime and night time temperatures, low annual rainfall and rocky soils of loose structure as a result of erosion from the Andes Mountains. When all the above is combined it allows the winemaker the opportunity to produce wines with utmost balance and expression.
The estate produces white wines with natural acidity, minerality, elegance, complexity, and citric aromas, whilst red wines have intense colours, floral notes, natural acidity, black fruits and spicy aromas with complexity and concentration.
Finca Sophenia are winners and their wines regularly win awards in competitions such as Decanter World Wine Awards and the International Wine Challenge.
