Region

The Western Cape is roughly the size of Greece and is the fourth largest province in South Africa. A temperate southern coastline is fringed by mountains whilst the north meets up with the Karoo plateau. The west coast of the province is extremely dry and windy. Two oceans meet on its coast; the cool Atlantic on the west and the warm Indian Ocean on the south coast. The weather is perfect for growing grapes - rainfall measures up to 40 inches a year, the mild Mediterranean weather provides the perfect climate and the ground is mainly sandy and rough.

Producer

Amanda Thomson was voted one of Business Insider’s Coolest People in Food & Drink 2019. Leading the global shift to alcohol-free drinking, Thomson recently launched game-changing Noughty, the first top quality alcohol-free, organic, vegan, halal, low sugar sparkling. Amanda is also driving the debate for greater transparency in wine production and labelling and wants consumers to push to know what’s in their bottle.
Tasting Notes
The grapes are harvested from dry farmed vineyards in the Western Cape, which are planted as bush vines. These vineyards are on Southwest facing slopes to get the best exposure from the cool ocean breezes. The wine is fermented in steel tanks, and spends two months on its lees to add complexity to the texture. The wine is then dealcoholized by way of spinning cone technology, done under vacuum and at low temperatures to retain its distinctive body, colour and flavour. This creates a delicate style of rosé with ripe summer berries, giving way to fresh and peachy aromas and a balanced palate with a lingering finish.
Food
A perfect alternative glass on a hot summers day.
