Region

The great plain of La Mancha, to the south of Madrid and east of Toledo, represents the largest viticultural area of Spain. The climate is arid, extreme in both summer and winter, tempered by strong prevailing winds. The widely planted white Arien grape variety is slowly losing favour to Tempranillo, Shiraz and Garnacha and the old wineries are giving way to gleaming modern facilities heralding a revolution for the region`s winemaking.

Producer

Bodegas Parra Jiménez, based in La Mancha, is the largest organic winery in Europe covering roughly 500ha of certified organic vineyards. Established in 1993 by the three Parra brothers, the family has farmed in La Mancha for generations. The brothers are still heavily involved in every aspect of the business today and are passionate about creating the best wine La Mancha has to offer. It took less than 20 years for Bodegas Parra Jiménez to become the largest organic winery in Europe - the Parras are passionate about continuing the farming methods observed by generations before them, free from pesticides, herbicides and chemical fertilisers.
Tasting Notes
Normally grown in the much cooler and wetter region of Rias Baixas, this Albariño instead comes from the much warmer, drier region of La Mancha. Biodinamically farmed and impressively grown to retain the characteristic acidity of the grape, the wine is then fermented and aged in inert stainless-steel tanks to preserve the fresh and delicate nuances of the grapes. The nose gives aromas of pungent citrus, tropical fruits and hints of wildflowers. A soft textured palate balanced with its vibrant acidity, apple, lemon and melon, leaves a fruity and harmonious finish.

Food
Pairs perfectly with seafood such as crayfish, prawns or with green herbs and salads.
