Region

If you have never tried an English wine before – well now is your opportunity. The vineyards of England are generally located in the warmer southern counties where the milder influences of the gulf stream have an important effect, as our northern hemisphere vineyards need a longer cooler growing season than in Europe to produce top quality grapes. More than 500 vineyards are in production across the UK and bottled annual sales has reached 3 million bottles, with Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Bacchus the most planted varieties.

Producer

Albury Vineyard is the result of Nick Wenman`s passion for quality wine. Nick planted the vineyard in 2009 having retired from the IT industry to fulfil his dream of owning a vineyard. Nick believes that key to the sucess of the wines is the vineyard`s committment to organic and biodynamic principles, together with excellent winemakers and his talented vineyard manager Alex, one of the few female vineyard managers in England. Albury Vineyard is situated on the southern slopes of the North Downs in the beautiful Surrey Hills, just outside Guildford on the A25 towards Dorking.
Tasting Notes
Albury Vineyards Surrey Hills Rose is a Pinot Noir dominant blend sourced from vineyards in the North Downs of the Surrey Hills. Pale rose in colour with perfumed floral and fresh raspberry notes on the nose. The Palate is rich and creamy with flavours of strawberry, cranberry and biscuit. The persistent, refreshing mousse and high acidity are balanced by the dosage. There are elegant notes of blossom and red fruit that linger on the finish.
Food
Excellent as an aperitif but pairs well with charcuterie boards and canapes.
