Region

Haut-Medoc is the large southern section of the greater Medoc district of Bordeaux in south-western France and also the name of the appellation that covers the vineyards here. It accounts for two-thirds of the Medoc peninsula and produces more fine wine per acre than almost anywhere else in the world.

Producer

A well-loved and consistently fine estate, located between Margaux and Saint-Julien, on the gravelly Medoc plateau looking out over the Gironde Estuary. This Mansart style chateaux was built in 1824, and has had twelve owners since then! The vineyard is predominantly planted with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, with small quantities of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot which combine to give typically vigorous blackcurrant, plum and spice scented wine with firm yet supple tannins.
Tasting Notes
A consistently fine estate which stands on the gravelly Médoc plane looking out over the Gironde, combining the ripe juicy fruit of Merlot and the structure and finesse from Cabernet Sauvignon. This classic 2018 Château Beaumont has a mid-ruby purple colour and an enticing nose of bright cherry, blackcurrant and menthol set against the more savoury notes of cedar. A medium body with soft tannins and vibrant acidity to accompany the powerful fruit with a fresh finish. A superb example of a classic claret, ideal to drink now and over the next few years.
Food
Pairs well with rich game, beef wellington and veal but also any mushroom and pasta dishes.
