Statement with regard to Covid-19 virus
17th March 2020
To Our Loyal Customers,
In recent days, the infamous Covid-19 has accelerated its impact in a way none of us predicted and will continue to do so for a number of weeks and possibly months ahead. Recent measures to try to mitigate the spread have hit families, communities and businesses hard, particularly for many of our friends and customers in the hospitality trade.
We are obviously taking these developments and announcements very seriously. As a family-owned company, we feel a very real duty of care to our employees and we have asked those who can work from home to do so, especially those who are more vulnerable. Unnecessary travel has been ruled out for our sales team and training manager, whilst our drivers, who will continue to deliver our lovely wines, are of course taking extra hygiene precautions.
It is also a very fluid picture for many of our producers, some of whom are in regions badly affected by the virus. There are no major delays though and we have very good stocks at present so we do not anticipate any short or medium-term supply issues. Our purchasing team continues to work very closely with our wine producers to keep wines moving and we will keep you posted if things change.
We also stand ready to help our customers in whatever way we can. Whether it’s using the quiet time for planning new wine lists or marketing ideas, our team here are happy to help. Please give your sales manager a call or go to our website or social channels where we will be communicating any updates.
Where possible, please place your orders by email on orders@ellis-wines.co.uk.
Thank you for being our extended family,
The team at Ellis Wines.

Currently it is business as usual for Ellis Wines.
We hold, on average, in excess of 3 months worth of stock in our warehouse in SW London. We are confident that we have sufficient stock and resources to meet our customers order requirements in the coming months.
So far, we have not experienced any supply chain issues from our suppliers, but we will continue to monitor our stock levels.
We are BRC and ISO 9001 accredited. We therefore have a business continuity plan in place, which covers infectious disease, which will be implemented as and when required if the current situation changes.
We have informed all of our staff of the current advice from HM Government Chief Medical Officer and will keep them updated.
If we have a confirmed case of the virus amongst our staff, the member of staff will be self isolated and we will inform those customers that may have been in contact with them in the preceding 14 days.
We will continually monitor the advice of HM Government Chief Medical Officer and NHS England, and will update this page as and when required.
